Are the songs right for the room? A good set builds towards something, like a story. It is not a random shuffle.

Six things, the same for every mix.
Judges hold 60% of your score. They hear every mix with no name on it, so only the music counts.

02
Smooth transitions, clean beatmatching and good use of EQ. No train wrecks and no awkward silences.
Half of this score is beatmatching. Beat sync gets a set 5 out of 10 here. Manual beatmatching is scored from 0 to 10. The other half is transitions: how you recover from a trainwreck, EQ, phrasing, mixing in key where the mix needs it, and levels.
03
Does the set build up and pay off? It needs real highs and lows, not 30 minutes at one level.
04
Does it sound like you? Unusual picks and fresh edits beat an obvious hits playlist.
05
Would this set work in a packed room at 1 AM? Judges imagine themselves in the crowd.
06
Clean recording, sensible levels, no clipping or distortion. It should sound professional.
Judged on three things, equally: a clean recording, the quality of your track files, and no distortion.
Every live round later in the season uses the same six things and the same 60/40 split. Only the crowd's 40% is counted differently: a decibel meter reads the peak of each act's roar instead of an online vote. The Rules page explains how.
